JOB SUMMARY:
A Relight Technician’s main responsibility is to perform meter relocates of existing or install new gas services to residential homes, which includes shutting down and relighting of gas services.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform meter locates of existing gas utility meters and install gas module upgrades
• Check and identify gas leaks on a meter set and customer house lines
• Collect data accurately and detail the installations per client requirements
• Communicate with homeowners on scheduling of services
• Relight gas services to home appliances
• Maintain a clean, organized job site free from unnecessary hazards
• Perform Driver’s Vehicle Inspections and cleaning on vehicles and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Ability to be a team player with a can-do attitude
• 6+ months hands-on pipe experience within the gas distribution field
• Proficient with iPads
• Withstand the climate year-round
• Insurable Driver’s License
• Pass DOT drug-testing & DOT physical
• Pass criminal background check
• Ability to adhere to safety expectations set by OSHA and client/company standards
• Ability to complete computer-based and hands-on training once hired
• Willingness to travel out of town if necessary

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of natural gas industry experience
• 1 year of experience as a Relight Technician
• HeavyJob knowledge
• Proficient with iPads
• CDL Class A
• Previously held Operator Qualifications trainings

WORK ENVIRONMENT / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is mostly outside, doing strenuous work in the elements. Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 7am to 5/6pm. Some Saturdays may be required. Overtime opportunities may be available. Overtime is classified as anything over 40 hours a week. Travel is dependent on that specific contracted job.
