Job Title:Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Location: Remote (Washington)
Job Type: Part-time (1:1 Assignment)

Overview: VocoVision isseeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to work one-on-one with a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing in a Washington school district. This role involves interpreting spoken language into sign language, ensuring effective communication and access to educational content tailored to the student's individual needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) during live virtual classes and events.
  • Facilitate communication between educators and Deaf or hard of hearing students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson plans and student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Stay current on educational practices and technology used in virtual learning.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably K-12.
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication access needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in technology used for virtual learning.
  • Flexibility to work with diverse student populations and varying schedules.
