Job Overview:
The Paralegal with State Administration Experience will support attorneys by performing a variety of legal tasks, including legal research, document preparation, and case management, with a particular emphasis on state administrative matters. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of state administrative procedures and regulatory frameworks, combined with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis related to state administrative procedures, regulations, and case law. Prepare detailed reports and summaries to support legal strategies.
Document Preparation: Draft, review, and manage legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and correspondence, specifically related to state administrative matters. Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Case Management: Assist in managing state administrative cases, including tracking deadlines, organizing case files, and coordinating with clients and state agencies. Maintain detailed records and documentation.
State Agency Interaction: Serve as a liaison between the firm and state administrative agencies. Prepare and file administrative forms, applications, and other documents with state agencies.
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in state regulations and administrative procedures. Advise attorneys and clients on compliance issues and procedural requirements.
Client Communication: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates on case status, and address any inquiries related to state administrative matters.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys and the legal team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing case-related materials.
Filing & Documentation: Ensure that all filings and documentation are submitted accurately and timely to state agencies. Maintain organized and accessible case files and records.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, with a focus on state administrative matters. Demonstrated experience working with state regulations, procedures, and agencies.
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification (e.g., from NALA or NFPA) is preferred.
Skills: Strong understanding of state administrative law and procedures. Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills. Proficiency in legal research databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
Attributes: Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and state officials.
