Job Description
The Spot Welder welds or tack-welds overlapping edges of positioned components with a portable spot-welding tool to fabricate sheet metal door assemblies. Quality controls and safety standards are utilized along with preventive maintenance to ensure the best cost-effective products are produced. This position will be responsible for welding door hardware based on blueprints, engineering plans, or work orders to meet customer specifications. Responsibilities will include providing excellent communication of processes and continuous improvements in regards to productivity and procedural changes.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate hand-held welding tool and maintain continuous workflow with manufacturing documentation in place, controlled, and maintained.
- Produce parts utilizing the 'top down' production list.
- Assist with daily preventive maintenance schedule for machine, manuals, and procedures.
- Perform first part inspections as well as in-process quality checks.
- Support all continuous improvements in safety, quality, 5-s and existing manufacturing processes.
- Provide feedback to supervision to help resolve quality issues or operation improvements.
- Know and abide by all company rules and policies with regards to safety and conduct.
- Embrace the cross-training culture by a willingness to learn other jobs or tasks within the facility.
- Do daily housekeeping to ensure the work area is clean and organized at all times.
- Spot welding, tack welding, and blueprint reading
- Ability to read and understand specification sheets and work orders
- Ability to layout and load materials using basic math and hand-held measuring tools
- Knowledge of hand-held welding tool operation and maintenance
- Understanding of the unique safety requirements for welding
- Knowledge of re-work procedures
- Understanding of finished product characteristics
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years manufacturing experience in a high volume, fast-paced production environment
- Metalworking / Hollow Metal fabrication experience preferred
- Dexterous with manufacturing equipment, basic power tools, and machinery

Work EnvironmentWork is performed in an industrial environment. Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods is required. Employees are encouraged to cross-train in different areas.
