The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing preventative and emergency repairs on a range of printing equipment, including printing presses, Videojet printers, and Inkjet printers. The Maintenance Mechanic will also leverage their expertise in electrical diagnostics, PLC, and VFD systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and maintenance of printing presses, Videojet printers, and Inkjet printers to prevent equipment failures and prolong lifespan.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, troubleshoot issues, and execute repairs to restore equipment to operational status with minimal disruption to production.
- Electrical Diagnostics: Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs on various components and systems, including motors, wiring, and control panels.
- PLC Programming: Utilize PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems for diagnosing faults, making adjustments, and optimizing machine performance.
- VFD Management: Maintain and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), ensuring proper operation and performance of motors and other equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and equipment status. Complete maintenance logs and reports as required.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure that all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production teams and other maintenance staff to coordinate repairs, share knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in maintenance or repair roles, preferably within the printing industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with PLC systems, including programming and fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and their maintenance.
- Familiarity with various types of printing equipment, including presses, Videojet printers, and Inkjet printers.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical or mechanical maintenance (e.g., Journeyman Mechanic, Electrical Technician) are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Capable of standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods.
