Accounts Payable Specialist

Location: Houston, TX - Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days from home - Mondays and Fridays)
Pay Rate: $22-$25 per hour
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and trainable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. This role involves significant data entry, processing up to 650 invoices per month, with half of these arriving in the last week of each month. The first four days of each month are particularly high volume due to month-end close. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, willing to work overtime if needed, and able to think outside the box.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and manage invoices, primarily related to freight, using Workday (training provided starting Nov 5th).
Handle up to 30 statements per month.
Communicate with vendors via phone and email regarding payments.
Collect and enter vendor information for new setups in ServiceNow.
Ensure accurate coding and entry of invoices.
Close purchase orders after invoice approval.
Cross-train with team members to provide backup support.
Requirements:
Basic knowledge of accounts payable, including the difference between credits and debits.
Proficiency in Excel, particularly with Pivot Tables.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude and willingness to adapt to constant change.
Energetic and takes pride in their work.
