Summary/Objective

• Develop, validate, troubleshoot, and operate CMM programs, conducting precise inspections—such as First Article Inspections (FAIs)—to ensure products meet all relevant specifications.
• Support Engineering in New Product Development and Investigations within Metrology by performing sample measurements, providing feedback, and participating early in drawing and GD&T reviews, as well as in initial evaluations of measurement capabilities.

Essential Functions

• Apply expert knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles to program CMMs and vision systems, ensuring product compliance with standards.
• Perform high-precision measurements on both machined and purchased parts and generate inspection reports.
• Interpret and apply ASME standards accurately across various inspection processes.
• Develop CMM programs from part drawings or models, troubleshoot and update existing programs, and carry out inspections as needed.
• Collaborate with the team to identify and address efficiency gaps, implementing improvements.
• Evaluate measurement standards and processes to create precise and repeatable measurement strategies.
• Work closely with Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors to create guidelines for inspection tools and to establish inspection methods that support business objectives.
• Contribute to quality inspection improvement initiatives and the creation of inspection plans.
• Participate in quality investigations related to measurement methods.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Competencies

• Proficient in mechanical inspection with hands-on experience using manual and visual inspection equipment, such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, surface plates, optical comparators, microscopes, coordinate measuring machines, profilometers, and hardness/durometer testers.
• Extensive knowledge of GD&T principles and ASME Y14.5-2018 application (ASME Y14.5 Certification preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering practices for machined parts.
• Skilled in CMM programming.
• Effective communication skills, with attention to detail and data entry proficiency.
• Team-oriented, with the ability to foster positive working relationships across departments.
• Competent in computer use, including Microsoft Office.
• Motivated to learn, improve, and apply new skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with an organized and analytical approach.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
