Job Overview:
This key role involves managing end-to-end logistics operations, including quoting, booking, documentation, invoicing, and maintaining client relationships. You will play a vital role in ensuring seamless logistics execution, driving cost-efficiency, and optimizing operations while meeting diverse customer needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in ocean freight, airfreight, project cargo, and rail operations, with a focus on ensuring compliance with international regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Freight Operations Management
    Oversee and manage international logistics operations for ocean freight, airfreight, project cargo, and rail.
    Develop strategies to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all cargo movements.

  • Quoting, Booking, Documentation, and Invoicing
    Provide competitive and accurate quotes based on client requirements for ocean, air, rail, and project cargo.
    Manage the full operational cycle: from booking and documentation to invoicing, ensuring smooth execution of each shipment.
    Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing, timely bookings, and proper documentation.

  • Client Relationship Management
    Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing timely updates and addressing any queries related to air, sea, rail, and project cargo operations.
    Perform follow-ups and assist with collections to ensure payment adherence.

  • Cross-Training and Skill Development
    Contribute to the cross-training of team members, helping them develop comprehensive expertise in various aspects of operations, including quoting, booking, and documentation for all modes of transport.
    Ensure all team members are equipped to handle diverse customer needs and can operate independently when necessary.

  • Operational Coordination
    Coordinate the A-Z operations of international shipments, ensuring all steps — from quoting, booking, and documentation to customs clearance and invoicing — are executed seamlessly.
    Work with carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery.

  • Compliance and Regulations
    Stay updated on international trade laws, customs regulations, and industry-specific compliance requirements for ocean, air, rail, and project cargo.
    Ensure all shipments adhere to necessary legal and regulatory standards.

  • Carrier and Forwarder Collaboration
    Establish and maintain relationships with freight carriers, airlines, and forwarders to negotiate favorable terms.
    Work closely with suppliers and service providers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality services.

  • Process Improvement and Risk Management
    Continuously evaluate and improve logistics processes, identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure smooth operations.
    Monitor industry trends and geopolitical factors that could impact logistics operations and implement strategies to manage these changes effectively.

 

Key Skills & Requirements:

Education & Experience
Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in handling air freight, sea freight, rail, and project cargo operations.
Experience working at smaller freight forwarding companies, with exposure to diverse logistics functions.
A track record of managing end-to-end logistics operations including quoting, booking, documentation, and invoicing.
While formal education is valuable, we emphasize hands-on experience and the right attitude for success in the role.

Core Competencies:
Strong operational expertise in air, sea, rail, and project cargo logistics.
Proficiency in quoting, booking, and documentation processes for a variety of international shipments.
Experience in managing and fostering client relationships, ensuring successful follow-ups and timely collections.
Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse customer needs in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.

Additional Qualifications
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of customers and logistics challenges.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide training to less experienced staff.
Knowledge of compliance and regulations governing international logistics operations.
