Job Overview:
We are seeking an empathetic and proactive School Social Worker to join our team in Lansing, MI. This role focuses on supporting students with mild to moderate mental health concerns through behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, and short-term counseling. You'll work closely with school staff to ensure students have the support needed for their emotional and academic success.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Behavioral Health Screenings: Conduct assessments to identify student needs and determine appropriate responses
- Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support for students in crisis situations
- Counseling Services: Provide short-term individual and group counseling focused on emotional regulation and coping strategies
- Collaboration and Referrals: Gather insights into students behavioral needs, coordinate appropriate referrals for intensive services, and collaborate with school staff
- Treatment Planning: Facilitate consent, develop treatment plans, and ensure accurate documentation
- School Initiatives: Support universal screenings and contribute to school-wide mental health initiatives
Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Social Work license
- Experience in a school setting or with school-age children (preferred)
- Strong assessment skills for mental health and behavior
