Global Import/Export Risk Officer

Rate: $85/hour
Join our Global Trade Operations team, where you’ll play a critical role in overseeing the risk management of high-volume, global supply chain trade. This position is focused on enhancing compliance and strategic risk processes for the movement of IMPORTED GOODS, with a particular emphasis on AML (Anti-Money Laundering), TBML (Trade-Based Money Laundering), and financial crime prevention.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and standardize a risk management framework and strategic approach for global trade and supply chain operations.
• Conduct and support periodic RCSAs (Risk Control Self-Assessments) to maintain compliance standards.
• Evaluate existing risk controls, design new measures, and assess their effectiveness in line with regulatory requirements.
• Create and manage business processes and procedures to ensure comprehensive regulatory compliance.
• Lead issues management initiatives, addressing findings from internal and external audits, and ensuring adherence to compliance mandates.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders across compliance, legal, and operational risk areas, focusing on financial safety within the supply chain.
Top Skills & Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of international supply chain and trade operations, with a focus on high-volume import/export risks.
• Proven experience in corporate strategy and execution within commercial trade operations and supply chain finance.
• Strong background in issue management, control design, and compliance, particularly related to financial crime risk.
• Executive communication skills for effectively presenting insights and recommendations to leadership.
• Investigative and analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and a proactive approach to financial crime prevention.
Preferred Experience
• Significant background in international trade finance with AML/BSA/CFT compliance experience.
• Familiarity with TBML practices and risk mitigation.
• 10+ years in finance, banking, or supply chain environments with high-value trade organizations in sectors like technology or retail.
• CDCS, BAFT, or similar trade finance certifications or coursework preferred.
