Job Description
As a member of our team, you will work closely with other shop staff to set up, machine, and inspect plastic and metal components on CNC mills and lathes. You will be responsible for programming, selecting tools, and calculating the appropriate cutting speeds, feeds, and depths of cuts to produce high tolerance parts. You will be a critical part of a team that is setting the bar for emerging ocean technologies.
Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and program CNC mills and lathes.
- Machine and inspect plastic and metal components.
- Program, select tools, and calculate appropriate cutting speeds, feeds, and depths of cuts.
- Read and interpret drawings and CAD models.
- Write or modify existing programs in CAM and run simulations to prove out the program.
- Properly use precision measurement instruments.
- Produce parts and maintain high tolerances as required.
- Adapt to quick changes in schedule.
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience machining tight tolerance parts in a short run job shop environment.
- Experience with Fanuc controls.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and CAD models.
- Ability to write or modify existing programs in CAM and run simulations.
- Proper use of precision measurement instruments.
- Computer literacy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift/move 50 lbs.
- Team-oriented and willing to learn from and teach peers.
- Ability to adapt to quick changes in schedule.
This is a temp-to-perm position with benefits offered upon permanent hire. You will be part of a dedicated team setting the bar for emerging ocean technologies. We value a collaborative and supportive work environment where continuous learning and growth are encouraged.
Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a machine shop with air conditioning, working alongside 4-5 other machinists. The work schedule is from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
