Soliant Education is actively seeking a compassionate and driven Special Education Teacher to join our team near Smyrna, Delaware. Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students, ensuring that their educational goals are met. Work closely with general education teachers, parents, and school administrators to align the IEP with the student's needs.
  • Instructional Support: Provide specialized instruction to students with special needs in a resource or inclusive classroom setting. Modify and adapt lessons to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to address student behavioral challenges and promote positive interactions within the classroom. Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student growth.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, school staff, and specialists to deliver individualized instruction and ensure that all students receive the appropriate support.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress and adjust IEPs and instructional strategies as necessary. Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide regular updates to parents and staff.
  • Communication: Engage regularly with parents, staff, and other stakeholders regarding student progress, challenges, and successes. Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related functions.
  • Professional Development: Continuously engage in professional development to remain up-to-date with best practices in special education and apply innovative teaching methods in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Delaware teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with elementary or middle school students in a special education setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for creating an inclusive learning environment that empowers all students.
