Restaurant Sous Chef
Newburgh, NY

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant Sous Chef to join our culinary team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position is ideal for a talented individual who thrives on teamwork, has a passion for high-quality cuisine, and is committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Operations: Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service and high-quality standards.
  • Menu Execution: Support the preparation and presentation of menu items, ensuring consistency, flavor, and visual appeal.
  • Team Leadership: Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control, food ordering, and supplier relationships to maintain adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the kitchen adheres to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Event Support: Contribute to the planning and execution of special events and seasonal menus.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any kitchen issues promptly to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume, upscale restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and kitchen management.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for high-quality, seasonal, and locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
