Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft Personalized Instruction: Develop and deliver individualized educational plans that cater to the unique needs of students with special education requirements, utilizing creative and adaptive teaching methods.
  • Create a Positive Classroom Environment: Establish a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that motivates students and supports their academic and personal growth.
  • Assess and Adapt: Regularly evaluate student progress through a variety of assessment tools, adjusting instructional strategies and materials to effectively meet each students evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with Educators: Work closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to implement integrated strategies and ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Support IEP Development: Contribute to the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing expertise on necessary accommodations and modifications to enhance student learning.
  • Engage with Families: Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress, addressing concerns, and involving them in the educational process.
  • Advocate for Inclusivity: Implement inclusive teaching practices that address a range of learning styles and abilities, ensuring every student feels valued and supported in their educational journey.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Valid Special Education certification or endorsement for the state of Alabama is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment.
  • Approach: A compassionate, student-centered approach focused on promoting both academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational staff to support a positive and inclusive learning experience.
