Job Description

As a Structural Welder, you will be fabricating structural steel, which is heavy-grade steel. You will perform flux core dual shield welding and work with thick 332 wire. You must be able to read a tape measure to 1/16" of an inch, read shop drawings and weld symbols, and have a strong knowledge of common welding shop tools. Fitters will read the blueprints; welders will need to read the weld symbols.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate structural steel using heavy-grade materials
  • Perform flux core dual shield welding with thick 332 wire
  • Read and interpret tape measures to 1/16" of an inch
  • Understand and follow shop drawings and weld symbols
  • Utilize common welding shop tools efficiently
  • Collaborate with fitters who will read the blueprints
Essential Skills
  • Experience in welding and fabricating structural steel
  • Proficiency in flux core dual shield welding
  • Ability to read tape measures, shop drawings, and weld symbols
  • Knowledge of common welding shop tools
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 3 years of structural welding experience preferred but not required
  • 1 year of flux core experience preferred

Work Environment

The work environment includes a standard welding shop under a large awning that covers the shop floor. The shop area is dusty daily. The position is for the 2nd shift, from 5pm to 3:30am, with an average of 55 to 58 hours of work per week.
