Job Description

A manufacturing company specializing in premium labels is seeking a dedicated Production Worker Level 1. The role involves operating manufacturing equipment to produce rolls of material (labels) according to specifications, ensuring quality control, and participating in various production-related tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Operate manufacturing equipment to produce rolls of material (labels) and ensure they are in the desired unwind position as per specifications.
  • Continuously check for print and seam quality.
  • Remove defective material and splice the roll web back together as per specifications.
  • Utilize tools such as a ruler, safety knife, and hole punch during the splicing procedure and as necessary.
  • Handle rolls and palletize them to prevent damage.
  • Record and enter data on designated paperwork and in the company operation system.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to figure label counts and conversions.
  • Proficiency in performing operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to use simple Windows-based applications.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (must be able to pass a ruler test).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; must be seen as a team player.
  • Ability to read and understand job tickets.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Printshop experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities.
  • Physical ability to stand and move around the production area for long periods of time.
  • Physical demands include standing, using hands to feel and touch, reaching with arms and hands, talking, and hearing. Frequent walking is required, and occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Assertive and solution-focused.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing site with over 150 employees. The environment includes loud machinery, requiring the use of a hair net (with hair up), beard net, safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes. No jewelry is permitted. The shifts are as follows: AM Shift - 7 AM to 3 PM, PM Shift - 3 PM to 11 PM, both Monday to Thursday. Starting November 24th, the new schedule will be: Day Shift - 5 AM to 1:30 PM, Swing Shift - 1 PM to 9:30 PM, Night Shift - 9 PM to 5:30 AM, with varying pay rates.
