We are seeking a passionate and innovative Food Scientist to join our Research & Development (R&D) Product Development team in the Manufacturing industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to apply their knowledge and skills in a dynamic and challenging role. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating new food products, improving existing ones, and ensuring that all products are safe and meet our high-quality standards. This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a high level of creativity, scientific knowledge, and a culinary background.
Responsibilities:
1. Leading the development of new products from the concept stage to commercialization, ensuring they meet the company's quality, cost, and timeline objectives.
2. Conducting bench top and pilot plant trials to develop new products and improve existing ones.
3. Performing sensory testing to evaluate the taste, appearance, texture, and smell of food products.
4. Developing and maintaining costing models to ensure that products are profitable.
5. Complying with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and other relevant food safety regulations.
6. Creating customer-specific prototypes to meet unique needs and preferences.
7. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure successful product launches.
8. Keeping up-to-date with the latest food science research, trends, and technologies.
9. Using culinary skills to create innovative and delicious food products.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in food product development, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
3. Strong knowledge of food science principles, GFSI standards, and food safety regulations.
4. Experience with bench top trials, commercialization, R&D, sensory testing, and costing models.
5. Culinary background with a strong understanding of food and flavor combinations.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
8. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
9. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
10. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
