Currently hiring for a Quality Technician in a Food Science Laboratory. An ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of quality testing in the food industry and has a high school diploma.

This opportunity is on a 1st shift on a 2-2-3 schedule. (working 12 hour shifts)

Must be located near the Columbus, OH area.

Job Description: 

  • Perform periodic in process quality checks: physical and chemical lab testing, coding, weight, packaging integrity, labeling, temperature, sensory, document review, data entry, among others, to verify compliance with customer and MFI’s specifications and all other associated regulations for all products
  • Inspect and sample incoming ingredients to submit for internal lab testing as required and assist in drafting, revision, and maintenance of plant standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in plant food safety/quality inspections, in-process inspections, mock recall, label audits, and HACCP audits.
  • Verify proper set-up of production lines at start-up and shift change: Printer set-up (coding), packaging materials, labeling, quality limits, etc.
  • Perform investigative environmental swabbing of critical production equipment/areas as a troubleshooting guide.
  • Assist in investigations in response to customer concerns or other quality-related deviations to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions
  • Assist in the management of quality hold activities, including non-conforming product inventories
  • Ensure lab equipment, refrigerators, and thermometer, among others, are properly maintained and calibrated, Maintain and follow MFI micro sample and shelf-life study programs.
  • Perform sample delivery to Micro Lab and to others NJ MFI plants and adhere to safe work practices, follows GMPs and HACCP guidelines, maintains sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Primary tests: PH, Color, Solids, Viscosity

Must Haves:

  • HS diploma
  • 1+ year Experience of quality testing experience. Within the food industry is highly preferred.
