Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRobert Half is seeking an HR Generalist for our client in Metairie, Louisiana, within the Engineering industry. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing effective recruiting and staffing strategies and providing support to various HR functions. This opportunity offers a short-term contract to full time employment.
Responsibilities: • Collaborate with department managers to identify and draft accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria • Implement efficient recruiting methods based on the role, industry standards, and organizational needs • Assist with job posting and advertisement processes to ensure they are up to date • Screen applications and select qualified candidates • Schedule interviews and prepare interview questions and other hiring and selection materials • Attend and participate in college job fairs and recruiting sessions • Conduct background checks, drug screenings, employee eligibility verifications, and screenings for random required programs • Assist in scheduling client-required training and site access • Perform tasks to assist the human resource team including benefit census request, leave discussions, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, and training and development • Maintain confidentiality when discussing and processing employee absences and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters • Provide additional support with open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs • Respond to human resources-related inquiries with a timely response • Perform other administrative duties, such as assisting with maintaining employees’ records and other sensitive items, as needed• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field • Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws • Proficiency in HRIS - Human Resources Information Systems • Outstanding knowledge of Microsoft Office • Excellent communication and people skills • Aptitude in problem-solving • Experience in employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions • Familiarity with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) procedures • Experience in corporate recruiting and applicant screening • Proven skills in onboarding, HR administration, and compliance • A certification in human resources such as PHR or SPHR is preferred
