Transportation Planner

Our client seeks a Transportation Planner for their Transportation Department. In this role, you will be responsible to handle transportation related functions (invoicing, carrier reporting, FTL/LTL, inbound/outbound) ensuring efficiency and cost effectiveness while keeping customer satisfaction at the forefront. Must stay in contact with our freight providers. Must be able to control all in-bound and out-bound freight movements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Owns the development and maintenance of strategic carrier relationships.
· Coordinates organization’s daily logistical operations by planning inbound and outbound shipments to internal and external customers based on needs.
· Provides internal and external stakeholders with weekly KPI’s and reports
· Utilizes problem solving techniques, teamwork building strategies, and continuous process improvement tools to meet and exceed department operating statistical goals.
· Serves as liaison between customers, freight carriers, and shipping departments.
· Ensures on-time delivery of goods to customers by investigating and resolving shipping or transit issues.
· Monitors changes/revisions to the orders throughout the life of the order through to delivery.
· Administers compliance with all regulatory bodies
· Entering discrepancies into the system and/or reporting them to customer as required.
· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
· Must have the ability to read, write and speak English
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in the logistics/transportation experience with emphasis on logistics planning operations
· Must have good all-around knowledge of shipping/warehousing operations and techniques.
· Proven facilitation and leadership skills.
· Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and communicate effectively with a variety of people at all levels and cultures.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· MS Office and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) experience.
