Plant Controller

We are working with a manufacturing client of ours to find a Plant Controller at their manufacturing facility in Rochester, New York. The individual in this role will be expected to manage the accounting, reporting, and forecasting operations for our Rochester Factory, ensuring that corporate governance measures are enforced and financial controls are in place. This role also involves providing financial insights to support the achievement of forecasted goals and growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately prepare and produce monthly management accounts in accordance with group policies and procedures.
• Review, interpret, and challenge financial results, highlighting any discrepancies and investigating variances.
• Collaborate with the operations team to monitor and analyze inventory levels.
• Evaluate and challenge strategic assumptions, ensuring transparency of costs and financial impacts on the organization.
• Contribute to cost improvement initiatives, validating proposed savings.
• Lead monthly performance reviews with the local management team, detailing results and explaining deviations.
• Prepare year-end reporting and statutory financial reports, ensuring timely audit and filing.
• Analyze project profitability and manage accounting systems within the operation, driving continuous improvements.
• Ensure effective credit control and communicate any risks to the relevant reporting lines.
• Conduct financial analyses of capital projects and prepare necessary capital budgets for group approval.
• Partner with Sales and Operations leaders in the US to provide data and analysis for monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
• Prepare quarterly forecasts and lead the annual budget process, focusing on sales, costs, EBIT, working capital, and other key metrics.
• Liaise with tax authorities and external tax services, preparing tax reconciliations and supervising the preparation of the corporation tax return.
• Prepare statistical ratios and provide support for ad hoc projects and requests.
Skills required include Accounting management, Financial Reporting, and Budgeting - Forecasting.
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a Plant Controller or similar role in the manufacturing industry is essential.
• CPA or CMA certification would be considered an advantage.
• Expertise in accounting management is required.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, including preparing financial statements and ensuring they comply with legal regulations and company policies.
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting and forecasting, with the ability to anticipate financial trends and provide strategic recommendations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-informed decisions.
• Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
• Proficiency in using financial software and databases.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
• Must have strong ethical standards, ensuring all financial operations align with company values and regulations.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
• Willingness to continuously improve professional knowledge and stay updated with industry trends.
