Gear Technician

2nd - 3:30pm to 12am
Starting pay is $18/hr, with potential to move up to $21/hr after 90 day probation period ends.
Under the direction of the Production Shop Supervisor, the Gear Technician services aircraft landing gear components through troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, and parts replacement at the component/depot level using manuals and other data. This position requires strong mechanical ability and great attention to detail. A Gear Technician must be willing to accomplish both repetitive and unfamiliar tasks on a regular basis with the use of aviation repair manuals.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs of components such as landing gear and related
components.
• Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
• Measure parts for wear, using precision instruments.
• Replace or repair worn, defective, or damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing
equipment.
• Modify aircraft structures, space vehicles, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications.
• Orders parts and requests vendor repair work to be accomplished.
• Maintain repair logs, documenting all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Experience:
Experience in Aircraft Maintenance preferred.
Extensive experience in Auto Mechanics desired.
