Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher to join our team in Gurnee, IL, for the 2024-2025 school year. This role involves working closely with students with diverse needs, developing personalized learning plans, and fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports each students academic, social, and emotional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique strengths and needs
- Provide engaging, differentiated instruction to students with a variety of disabilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create an inclusive learning environment
- Regularly assess student progress, adapting instructional strategies as needed
- Manage classroom behavior to encourage a supportive and productive atmosphere
- Support students social, emotional, and behavioral growth alongside academic goals
- Attend IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development workshops
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters preferred)
- Valid Illinois teaching license with Special Education endorsement
- Experience working with students with disabilities is a plus
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and best practices in special education
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for fostering student success
