The Sr. COBOL/DB2 Developer will be responsible for designing, developing and testing IT solutions on the AS400 platform for various project deliverables. The candidate would participate across all areas of the Software Development Life Cycle including defect resolution, deployment and postproduction support.
Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience
• Strong breadth of knowledge in software technologies including healthcare payer solutions to understand development standards and best practices
• 5+ years of experience in systems analysis and COBOL and CL development on an AS400 platform
• 2-5 years of experience and industry knowledge in health insurance is
• Working experience in EDI standards for Provider/ Clinical data exchanges
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Analyze, design, develop & implement changes to the Beacon AS400 application platform.
2. Participate in the evaluation, build, testing, and implementation of new products and the modification of existing products.
3. Define and propose solutions for enhancements and system changes.
4. Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
5. Estimate development tasks, define work efforts and timelines and provide project status.
6. Work with testers and business teams to triage defects and ensure changes are migrated into production correctly.
7. Provide on-going production support for the Beacon AS400 application platform.
8. Perform tasks regarding change control, incident management, and audit.
9. Support SOX and IT Security guidelines to ensure all systems are kept in compliance.
10. Create and update the appropriate system documentation.
Minimum Entry Level Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (required)
• AS400 Application Development (required)
• Informatica knowledge (good to have)
