POSITION SUMMARY

The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for performing various machine operation tasks within the production process to create large foam rolls. In this position, you will be required to move bulky materials with a forklift frequently, perform complex machine set up tasks, operate machine, and monitor foam production for quality results. The foam extrusion equipment is unique to our process and we train on how to use it. Prior forklift experience is required. Safety is a top priority.

This position works Monday - Friday, 40 hours, beginning at 6 AM.

CORE FUNCTIONS

· Operate machinery to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the entire shift, performing basic adjustments to ensure safe and efficient production of products.

· Operate forklift to move materials throughout the production process.

· Perform in-process inspections of parts throughout the manufacturing run and ensure they meet visual standards of acceptance.

· Responsible for producing parts in the proper quantity as identified by the production schedule.

· Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup.

· Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.

· Perform operational procedures to ensure the quality of the product packaged.

· Recognize defective materials for color, surface blemishes, finish, and dimensions.

· Identify the proper tooling required for pending production.

· Inspect the condition of molds and component parts for damage and wear.

· Inspect machine, conveyer and tools in department and notify Lead that a maintenance repair form is needed, or replacement tools are required.

· Keeping work cell, department, and fire-doors clear of trash and other obstructions that could hinder department performance/safety.

· Maintain condition of work area to meet 5-S standards.

· Communicate with team members and support teams.

· Maintain professional attitude offering support to Leads, Supervisors and Manager.

· Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist whenever and in whatever capacity needed to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the entire shift.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.

· Prior experience operating forklift in an industrial setting, required.

· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activities

· This position is subject to the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, and repetitive motions.

Visual Acuity

· The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

· The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment.
