Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Locust, NC
Job SummaryWe are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team in Locust, NC. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic and personal development in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop and implement tailored Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student learning and progress.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress, making necessary adjustments to instruction.
- Create and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant professional activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student performance and progress.
- Stay current with best practices and developments in special education.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
- Licensure:
- Valid North Carolina Professional Educators License in Special Education (K-12).
- Must meet the requirements set by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
- Certifications:
- Appropriate teaching certification in Special Education.
- Any additional certifications as required by the state of North Carolina.
- Experience:
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs is an advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
- The position may require lifting and moving educational materials and equipment.
- The teacher may need to assist students with physical needs, including mobility and personal care.
- Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
