Position Overview: Delivery Driver - CDL (Class A, B)
Position Summary: We’re seeking a dedicated and reliable Delivery Driver to handle essential delivery and customer service tasks. This role involves unloading and transporting products from trailers to customer storage areas by hand or with equipment. You’ll be working both independently and alongside customers to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unloading & Transport: Unload products from trailers using hand carts, pallet jacks, or by hand, and place items in designated storage areas. This may involve navigating ramps, stairs, and docks in various weather conditions.
- Moving Materials: Transport products and materials between storage areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles.
- Customer Verification: Confirm delivery details with customers, secure proper signatures, and handle any questions or concerns professionally.
- Sorting & Organization: Sort products as needed before loading and unloading for efficiency and accuracy.
- Funds Collection: Where applicable, collect payments (cash or checks) from customers and submit funds daily.
- Returns & Damaged Goods: Handle pickup, loading, and unloading of damaged goods and customer returns, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including required vehicle maintenance reports.
- Heavy Lifting: Maneuver drums and boxes weighing up to 170 lbs, which may involve navigating ramps or stairs with the aid of a hand truck.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate DOT logs, whether electronic or manual, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain all assigned equipment, such as hand carts, pallet jacks, and personal protective gear.
- Other Duties: Perform additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Licensing: Valid CDL (Class A, or B) with a clean driving record.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant driving or delivery experience is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push or pull weights exceeding 80-100 lbs.
- Equipment Experience: Familiarity with operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks is a plus.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of DOT and CDL regulations.
- Basic Math Skills: Able to perform basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
