Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Paraprofessional to join our team in Berkeley, CA. This full-time position involves supporting teachers and students in the classroom by providing instructional assistance, behavioral support, and individualized attention to enhance the learning environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and productive educational experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers with daily classroom activities, including lesson preparation and implementation.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and implement strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Support students with special needs by following individualized education programs (IEPs) and providing necessary accommodations.
  • Monitor and assist students during instructional activities, recess, and transitions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to address students' academic and behavioral needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior.
  • Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom setup.
  • Participate in professional development and training to stay current with best practices in education.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or relevant coursework in education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and families.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
  • Commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
