Occupational Therapist Opening

Qualifications:
  • Education: Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Valid state license in Occupational Therapy (OT) or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience: Previous experience working as an occupational therapist in a school setting is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Certifications: Certification in pediatric therapy or school-based therapy is a plus.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of child development and school-based occupational therapy practices.
  • Ability to assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy programs.
  • Excellent munication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and staff.
  • Proficiency in using assistive technologies and tools.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessments and Evaluations: Conduct thorough assessments of students fine motor skills, sensory processing abilities, daily living skills, and other functional areas. Use standardized tools and observational techniques to evaluate students strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized therapy goals that align with students IEPs. Monitor and adjust goals as needed.
  • Therapy Services: Provide direct therapy to students individually or in small groups. Interventions may include improving fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-regulation techniques, and assistive technology training.
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to provide guidance on adapting classroom activities, materials, and environments to support students' needs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP meetings. Provide regular reports to parents and school administrators.
  • Professional Development: Stay current on best practices in school-based occupational therapy and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
