1st shift 18.00/hr

Summary:

Set up and operator manual and automatic punch presses. Cut shells and sleeves in an economical and productive manner to meet manufacturing schedules and quality requirements. Inspect and test couplings as necessary to verify coupling fit (gap) requirements. Load and unload trucks. Work toward continuous quality and product flow improvement.

Essentials Functions:

  • Set up, inspect and operate manual and automatic punch presses to produce coupling shells and sleeves that meet Morris production and quality requirements daily.

  • Work with purchasing to monitor and maintain raw material stock levels, as required.

  • Visually inspect and dimensionally verify as necessary raw material stocks used on the shell and sleeve punch presses.

  • Move raw materials to presses for use and safely stack cut product on skids. Cut shells and sleeves must be identified, marked and kept in an organized manner to aid in material status identity. Mark product with shop order numbers, description and quantities daily.

  • Do routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating die posts, press fittings, check and fill oil and lubricating fluid levels to prevent undue wear and damage to presses and dies. Notify supervision when die needs to be reworked, repaired and/or replaced as required.

  • Cut and transport “special” sleeves to cells on a timely basis for manufacturing as required.

  • Properly stack coil stock in a safe manner keeping product identified by gauge, width, weight and supplier daily.

  • Lubricate dies and equipment daily, prior to use or more often as required, to maximize usage, maintain life expectancy and prevent premature wear and tear to tooling and equipment.

  • Report labor accurately via job on/off using M.O. operation routing instructions.

  • Provide written and documented monthly inventory counts to purchasing.

  • Remove scrap and garbage from shipping area twice a week.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Ability to calculate cut shell, sleeve and gasket lengths for new product by using mathematical formulae and calculators. Ability to read, write, understand and follow verbal and written English instructions to satisfactorily execute shop order, job requirements and supervisory instructions. Have manual skill and dexterity to set up dies and equipment and remove product from presses. Ability to operate forklifts to move material on and off trucks and throughout the shop. Possess knowledge or ability to learn established computerized system. Ability to react to change productively and perform other tasks as assigned. Ability to get along with others and supervision and must have a positive attitude.

Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent. Good eye-hand and foot coordination. Forklift experience preferred. Cannot be afraid to work with and around moving machinery and equipment. Experience in an equal or similar manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:
Position may be performed on any shift as assigned, Monday through Friday. May work weekends, other shifts and extended daily hours as required. May be exposed to noise levels to 110dB, dust and fumes. Will come into contact with oils and lubricating fluids, glue and adhesives, light oil, marking oils, paint and dirt. Personal Protection Equipment required to include but not limited to steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection. Temperature range from 60 – 105 degrees winter and summer with humidity as high as 95%.

Physical Demands:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: Frequently standing, walking and sitting. Occasionally stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting and/ or carrying up to 70 lbs.



Pay Details: 18.00 per hour
