Job Title: Lead Control Systems Engineer - Power and Energy
Location: Phoenix, AZ

Overview:
The Lead Control Systems Engineer designs and leads building automation projects, overseeing project execution and ensuring quality delivery. Responsibilities span team leadership, system design, and onsite system startup, with specific tasks varying by project.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Sales Support: Guide project teams of 2-5 engineers, delegate tasks, and support change orders by estimating hardware costs and engineering efforts. Maintain strong customer relationships and contribute to technical sales support.
  • Instrumentation & Electrical Design: Develop instrument lists, select instrumentation and controls hardware, create panel layouts and schematics, and support panel fabrication and inspection. Compile submittal documentation and procure project hardware.
  • System Design and Configuration: Lead design reviews, configure HMI screens and control algorithms, conduct functional testing, draft system documentation, and assist with customer demonstrations and acceptance testing.
  • Onsite System Startup: Deploy and calibrate software, conduct functional tests, troubleshoot issues, and support customer testing. Train customer representatives on system operations and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's or related technical degree with 3+ years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Controls Expertise: Proficiency in at least one major controls platform, such as:
    • Rockwell (FactoryTalk Suite, RS Logix/Studio 5000, PlantPAx DCS)
    • Aveva System Platform
    • Inductive Ignition Perspective
    • Distech (BACnet, LON, Eclypse Controllers)
  • Additional Skills: Experience with Johnson Controls, Tridium, SQL, scripting languages (e.g., VBA, Python), and technologies like Kepware OPC, ThinManager, and VMware is preferred.
