Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Warehouse Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for loading and unloading carpet from distributors, measuring and converting inches to feet, picking products based on provided lists, and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment. This position requires basic math skills, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a strong commitment to attendance and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Load and unload carpet from distributors.
  • Measure and convert inches to feet.
  • Pick products based on provided lists and prepare them for shipment.
  • Count carts of carpets and other flooring materials.
  • Cut carpet to specific sizes according to customer specifications.
  • Assist in cleaning the warehouse, including sweeping and keeping the area free of trash and debris.
  • Ensure carpet is cut to the correct length using basic math skills.
  • Follow directions and read a ruler accurately.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to read and follow directions accurately.
  • Strong reliability and accountability.
  • Good attendance record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with inventory, packing, and picking.
  • Ability to get trained and certified on the forklift.

Work Environment

Our small suburban warehouse consists of a team of 7 workers divided into three sections. The first section houses large carpet rolls and those to be cut next. The second section contains trim, padding, and roles ready for shipment. The third section has three manual cutting machines used daily. The warehouse has bay doors that remain open, and it is not temperature controlled, making it hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Safety is highly stressed, and there is a strict no cell phone policy on the floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Landover, Maryland.
