Job Description

As a Casting Technician, you will operate and maintain casting furnaces, coordinating job numbers with the correct alloy, weight, and temperature per PMS. You will ensure that charges are properly identified and correspond to appropriate numbers and lot routers, and transport ingots of alloy to work units using hoists. You will handle molds from the pre-heat furnace to the casting furnace, monitor gauges, determine accurate pump down times, replace crucibles, and pack crucibles. Additionally, you will clean and remove all metal from splash guards, crucible blocks, and furnaces while complying with all company attendance policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain casting furnaces.
  • Coordinate job numbers with correct alloy, weight, and temperature per PMS.
  • Ensure charges are properly identified and correspond to appropriate numbers and lot routers.
  • Transport ingots of alloy to work units utilizing hoists.
  • Handle molds from pre-heat furnace to casting furnace.
  • Monitor gauges to assure correct settings, accurate pour speed, and appropriate crucible size for melting process.
  • Determine accurate pump down time to prescribed vacuum levels.
  • Replace crucibles and pack crucibles using grog according to best practices.
  • Record temperature at unit and signal team operators to remove mold from preheat.
  • Clean and remove all metal from splash guards, crucible blocks, and furnace.
  • Comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and assigned overtime.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one year of related manufacturing experience and/or training
  • Problem solving skills
  • Must be available for all shifts (including 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekend shift)
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as schedule varies depending on site operational needs
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • This position is subject to ITAR, requiring U.S. person status

This is an HOURLY PAYING POSITION at $19.48/hr

Work Environment

This position is based in a large manufacturing facility with approximately 500 employees. The environment is heavy industrial, with hot areas due to the machines. Flexibility in working different shifts and overtime is required to meet operational needs.

This is a Permanent position based out of Hampton, Virginia.

The pay range for this position is $40518.00 - $40518.00
