Position Overview:

Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Hamtramck, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, aligned with the districts academic calendar
School Setting: A collaborative and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic success and personal growth for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Education Program (IEP) Management: Create and maintain IEPs that address each students unique academic and behavioral needs, ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Instructional Support: Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to engage students with diverse learning needs and help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly evaluate student progress using data-driven assessments, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Behavioral Intervention and Support: Implement positive behavior support plans and intervention strategies to promote a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to develop comprehensive plans that meet the holistic needs of students.
  • Family Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies for continued growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Special Education (or eligibility for Michigan State certification).
  • Experience working with students who have learning disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, behavior intervention strategies, and special education regulations.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to working in a team-oriented environment.
