Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure New York.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Initial Assessments: Evaluate clients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs through virtual assessments, questionnaires, and video consultations.
  • Identify Goals: Collaborate with clients to set achievable short-term and long-term goals based on their needs and aspirations.
  • Develop Individualized Treatment Plans: Create customized therapy plans that outline specific interventions and activities to help clients reach their goals.
  • Adapt Activities for Remote Delivery: Modify activities and exercises to be suitable for a home environment, ensuring they are effective when done virtually.
  • Implement Therapy Sessions: Conduct individual or group sessions using video conferencing tools, providing guidance and support during activities.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly assess clients progress toward their goals and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate Clients and Families: Provide information on strategies, techniques, and tools that clients and their families can use to enhance therapy outcomes.
  • Offer Support: Provide emotional and motivational support to clients and their families, helping them navigate challenges related to their conditions.
  • Maintain Records: Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Adhere to Regulations: Ensure compliance with telehealth regulations, including confidentiality and consent requirements, as well as any state-specific licensing laws.
  • Collaborate with Other Professionals: Work with other healthcare providers (e.g., physical therapists, speech therapists, psychologists) to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
  • Communicate Effectively: Use clear and compassionate communication skills to engage with clients, ensuring they understand their treatment and goals.
  • Utilize Teletherapy Platforms: Be proficient in using telehealth technologies and platforms, ensuring that sessions run smoothly and securely.
