Paraprofessional in Vancouver, WA
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team at Vancouver School District. The Paraprofessional will work closely with teachers and support staff to assist in providing a positive and inclusive learning environment for students. This role involves supporting the educational, behavioral, and social development of students under the direction of certified teachers and administrators.

  • 24-25' school year
  • 30-35 hours per week
  • Variety of caseloads

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing lesson plans and educational activities under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instructional support to students based on their individual needs.
  • Support students with special needs in various educational settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms.
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior and reinforcing positive behavior interventions.
  • Help students with academic tasks such as reading, writing, math, and other subject areas.
  • Support students during transitions between activities and locations within the school.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to implement accommodations and modifications outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or higher preferred).
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of basic educational and behavioral principles.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or training in special education, behavioral interventions, or related fields.
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar support role.
  • Bilingual proficiency in languages spoken within the school community.
