Job DescriptionJob Description

The Medical Technologist assists the professional staff in conducting, evaluating, and documenting routine and specialized tests of blood and other specimens in the areas of hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology. The Medical Technologist is responsible for meeting and maintaining established medical and laboratory protocols. At a minimum, must perform established Washington Health System Core Medical Technologist Skills & Responsibilities.

Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological AND at least two (2) years’ experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory (Biology/Microbiology preferred); OR Associates Degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent educations and training; OR Individuals performing high complexity testing on or after April 24, 1995 with a high school diploma or equivalent with documented training may continue to perform testing only on those tests for which training was documented prior to September 1, 1997.

ASCP or other appropriate licensing agency preferred.

Department: Lab

Shifts: Nights 10p - 6a Scheduled every other weekend. Rotating holidays.

Hours: 40 hours per week.
