JOB SUMMARY

Control and direct warehouse operations at a high level of expectation as they pertain to:

  • Personnel motivation, direction and training.

  • Shipping process and improvement.

  • Receiving process and improvement.

  • Warehouse safety, organization and housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the receiving process for accurate and timely put-away.

  • Assist in the shipping process for accurate, timely and damage-free arrival.

  • Monitor incoming shipments for critical items awaiting reshipment.

  • Review Manifest, Shipping, Quality and Operational reports for completeness and as tools to discover issues needing improvement.

  • Guide, direct and support warehouse Lead personnel and their subordinates to ensure accomplishment of key goals.

  • Develop and maintain effective lines of communication with all departments.

  • Actively participate in "Lean" continuous improvement program by identifying and eliminating process waste, participating in kaizen events and ensuring that all standard work is being adhered to.

  • Assist operations department in special projects.

  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of Company policy and procedure.

  • Oversee maintenance and operation of lift trucks and electronic scales.

  • Assist in general building maintenance.

  • Perform pick-ups and deliveries when required.

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of product from common carriers and UPS.

  • Key figure in training and orientation of new employees. Provide thorough, supportive training using our training package as a guide.

  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment.

  • Exhibit proper and effective management skill sets in a fair and equitable manner to include Communication, Honesty and Integrity, follow through and confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate flexibility with your work schedule to ensure accomplishment of goals.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Receiving

  • Schedule appointments for inbound trucks/containers

  • Receive sales returns, purchase orders and supplies

  • Measure and maintain accurate units of measure for all inbound items

  • Inventory

  • Daily cycle counting, investigation and reconciliation

  • Review and update slotting plan.

  • Replenishment system

  • Re-work and convert items as needed

  • Warehouse

  • Review obsolete inventory. Recycle/dispose as needed

  • Review warehouse capacity to ensure adequate space is available for incoming freight

  • Purchase and maintain adequate levels of pallets and supplies

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Dock to Stock" receiving performance

  • Same day shipping performance

  • Errors control (shipping and receiving)

  • Warehouse organization/cleanliness/safety

  • Employee attendance, turnover and motivation

  • Inventory accuracy and optimization

  • Management and training of warehouse personnel

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Yes. Distribution Associates, Distribution Coordinators and any assigned temporary employees (2-25).

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

6:00 am - 2:30 pm. Overtime when needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience

  • 5-10 years of effective Lead or Supervisory experience in a warehouse environment

  • Extensive knowledge of Shipping, Receiving and Warehouse Operations

  • Computer experience related to integrated business systems, manifest system, warehouse management systems and Microsoft applications

SKILLS (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other)

  • Strong analytical abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and team building skills

  • Strong coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Extreme accuracy and detail oriented

  • Ability to lead cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Lifting due to order packaging (up to 50 lbs.)

  • High energy level to complete daily work orders per deadlines/schedule

  • Exceptional mathematical and computer skills

  • Good interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and develop effective partnerships with all customers (internal and external)

  • Ability to perform and backup warehouse positions, if needed, including operating a tow motor

Must be able to work in a production environment that is moderately noisy requiring the use of hearing protection at all times.
