Job Description

The Quality Inspector will be the go-to quality control person on the specific production shift. This role involves spot-checking in-line pipes to ensure all details are met and working with operators who have pulled products aside for inspection. The inspector will perform the final inspection on packaged pipes for damages, dimensions, scuffs, print issues, sizing, etc., using various measuring tools and conducting 100% visual inspections.

Responsibilities
  • Perform spot checks on in-line pipes to ensure all specifications are met.
  • Collaborate with operators who have flagged products for inspection.
  • Conduct final inspections on packaged pipes for damages, dimensions, scuffs, print issues, sizing, and other defects.
  • Use tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and OD tape measures for accurate measurements.
  • Perform 100% visual inspections on pipes.
  • Identify and check for defects such as gasket fit, bell part angles, bevel length and shape, bell depth, color, and printing.
  • Verify 100% of the pipes once they are on a pallet, which can hold up to 360 pieces.
Essential Skills
  • 1+ year of quality control experience in a production manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read a tape measure down to the 1/16" in standard.
  • Experience with micrometers and/or calipers.
  • Extremely high attention to detail.

Work Environment

The facility is a large manufacturing plant located in the north industrial park in Fargo. It is consistently loud and can get a bit dusty. The team includes roughly 20 people per shift, with 1 Shift Supervisor and 2 Assistant Supervisors per shift. The Quality Inspector will work closely with these supervisors. The dress code requires steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and earplugs. Shift runs from 5:45 pm to 6:15 am. Initial training will take place during the day shift before transitioning to overnight shifts for the long term.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00
