Position Overview:
As a DHH Specialist, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments. Your role will involve developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), creating an inclusive classroom environment, and collaborating with other educators and families to ensure effective communication and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualized Instruction: Develop and deliver customized instructional strategies and support tailored to the needs of students with hearing impairments.
- IEP Development: Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, parents, and other stakeholders to address each students unique needs.
- Classroom Support: Provide direct support in the classroom, including facilitating communication, using assistive technology, and adapting educational materials to enhance accessibility.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document student progress, making data-driven adjustments to instructional methods to promote academic and personal development.
- Family Collaboration: Work closely with families to provide guidance, resources, and support, ensuring they are actively involved in their childs education.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices and emerging technologies in the field of deaf education and integrate new strategies as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Relevant certification in Deaf Education or a related field is required.
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, particularly in an educational setting, is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and families; skilled in using assistive technology and adaptive teaching methods.
