This role requires strong technical and leadership skills and the ability to problem solve efficiently while balancing competing priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the plant, ensuring efficient workflow, production processes, and adherence to production schedules.
  • Lead and support plant staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce downtime, and maximize overall output.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards applicable to the industry.
  • Develop and manage the plant’s operating budget, focusing on cost control while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reliability of production equipment, coordinating timely repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure all products meet industry and customer specifications, and uphold high standards of quality throughout the production process.
  • Work with procurement and supply chain teams to manage raw materials, inventory, and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting production performance, operational challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in plant management, preferably within the agriculture industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of technical software systems; experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is highly preferred.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, or Six Sigma is a plus.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead large teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of implementing operational improvements.
  • Thorough knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to the agriculture industry.
  • Familiarity with production management software and equipment used in meat packing/processing facilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
