Location:Near Turner, OR

Position: School-Based Paraprofessional

Job Summary: The Salem-Keizer School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate School-Based Paraprofessional to join our team in Salem, Oregon. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and staff to support students' educational and developmental needs, ensuring a positive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering instructional activities and lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs or learning difficulties.
  • Monitor and support students in various school settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and lunchrooms.
  • Help with classroom management and organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
  • Support students in developing social skills and positive behaviors.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and munication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with children.

Required Certificates:

  • Oregon Paraprofessional Certificate (required if you do not have an associate's degree or higher, or 72 quarter hours of college coursework, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment).
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred but can be obtained after hiring).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, and reach as necessary to assist students.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position during the school year.
  • Hours may vary based on school schedules and needs.
  • Work primarily in a school setting, with occasional outdoor supervision.
