We are currently looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join our team on 2nd shift.


2nd shift hours are 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM, Monday - Thursday. Overtime is available and may involve a Friday shift of 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM.


Summary of Duties and Responsibilities


Set up and run the laser machine to ensure the cutting of metal parts to meet customer specifications.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  1. Follow and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  2. Using traveler and blueprint information, sets up laser per program provided by engineering.
  3. Modifies programs as necessary to improve efficiency of machine while maintaining part and specification integrity.
  4. Runs first piece and takes to inspection or certified operator for approval.
  5. After 1st piece approval adjust machines if necessary and runs job.
  6. Using measuring equipment, checks specified dimensions on parts as necessary and plots them on SPC charts to track quality of product and process.
  7. Performs shakeout and deburrs parts as necessary.
  8. Performs preventive and routine maintenance on machine as required.
  9. Fills out all required production paperwork and records.
  10. Maintains work area in clean and safe condition.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education and Experience


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Requires minimum of 1 to 3 years of laser or fabrication experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Must be able to read complex blueprints and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Advanced knowledge of laser in preferred. Must know use of basic quality inspection equipment including calipers, tape measure, and micrometers. Ability to follow instructions, read, and write.
  • Basic computer skills are required.



Working Conditions


  • Constant exposure to one or more elements typically found in a manufacturing setting such as noise, dust, heat, fumes or dirt, which may not be desirable. Exposure to noise requires the use of hearing protection.

  • None



Decision-Making / Confidentiality


  • Requires continuous mental / visual application. Moderate independent judgment and decision making within Company policies to resolve operational problems and to determine manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Limited exposure to confidential data such as product design information and work center rates.
