Contract Paraprofessional

ProCare Therapy is working with a great school district located in Hawthorne, NY that is looking to hire paraprofessionalsfor the2024-2025school year with the opportunity to renew for the following school year.

The paraprofessional will work under the supervision of a certified Special Education Teacher to implement individualized education plans. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children with special needs, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

The selected candidate will be hired on as a full time contracted employee through ProCare Therapy. A full school year contract will be awarded for you to complete. While undergoing your assignment, you will be provided with: competitive compensation, weekly paychecks, and superior healthcare benefits through United Healthcare.

Schedule:

  • Fulltime: 32.5 - 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Hours: 7:30 - 3:30
  • October 2024 - June2025
  • Elementary and middle school openings
  • Assisting lead teacher with instruction and classroom support
  • Providing 1:1 academic and behavior support to special need students
  • Classroom will be assigned based on experience, preference and availability
  • New York Teaching Assistant Certification required or willing to apply

Job duties:

  • Assist in the implementation of IEPs and behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students in various settings (classroom, playground, etc.).
  • Collect and record data on student progress and behavior.
  • Support students in developing social, communication, and adaptive skills.
  • Assist with classroom management and organization.
  • Collaborate with teachers, BCBAs, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student education and behavior management.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or Associate or Bachelor degree in related field preferred
  • New York Teaching Assistant Certification
  • Previous pediatric or schools experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
