Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist

Location: Martin County, Florida

Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Type: Full-Time

Overview: Join Martin County Schools as a Speech-Language Pathologist and help make a difference in the lives of our students. The SLP will play a crucial role in providing speech and language services to students, ensuring their academic and social success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with speech and language needs.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy to students in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise and recommendations.
  • Conduct screenings and provide consultations as needed.
  • Stay updated with best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology.
  • Provide training and support to school staff on speech and language development.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Florida state license to practice Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Certification from the Florida Department of Education for Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Knowledge of IDEA and state and federal regulations governing special education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Florida State License: Must hold and maintain a valid license to practice speech-language pathology in Florida.
  • ASHA Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Florida Department of Education Certification: Certification for Speech-Language Pathologists, meeting all state educational and examination requirements.
