We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Abrasive Machinist IV (Grinder) to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. Reporting to the Sr. Team Leader, this position performs all machining operations as part of the production process in an assigned cell.

This is a second shift position. Hours are 3:30PM - 1AM - this includes one hour of mandatory overtime at the end of shift for a required 45 hour week.

OT pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 in a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Independently sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots and operates centerless or center grinding machines or honing machines on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring an intermediate level of skill
  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of manufacturing order of operations involving combinations of operations
  • Works from operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
  • Self-sufficient with work-holding and work support methods, stone selection, wheel speed, wheel dressing and machine adjustments

Qualifications


Education:

  • High school diploma/GED

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience as a grinding operator or 1 year of CNC machining experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Continual standing
  • Frequent mental and visual attention
  • Frequent bending, twisting
  • Frequent grasping items and tools
  • Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.

Other:

  • Will be required to work overtime and weekends to meet customer needs.
