As a Buyer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring production runs smoothly by managing material planning and procurement. Key responsibilities include:
- Material Planning & Procurement: Analyze material requirements for current and forecasted sales, and purchase high-quality materials, parts, and components at cost-effective prices.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and monitor vendor performance to ensure quality and timely deliveries.
- Inventory Oversight: Monitor material levels, issue purchase orders, and address shortages by expediting orders as needed.
- Problem Resolution: Process returns for defective materials, resolve discrepancies, and ensure replacement materials are expedited.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records, update the database with pricing, lead times, and supplier information, and reconcile invoices.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in cross-functional teams to enhance processes, reduce costs, and improve productivity and quality.
- Regulatory Compliance: Follow all safety and work regulations.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum of a two-year Associate Degree in Business, Purchasing, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing or materials management.
- Knowledge of mechanical applications is essential; familiarity with blueprints and machining operations is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong math skills, including calculating discounts, percentages, and volumes.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and communicate effectively with vendors and team members.
Other Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a job shop environment is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.Why Join Us?
