Position Overview:
The School-Based BCBA will work directly with students, teachers, and families to assess, design, and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) that promote positive behavior, social skills, and academic success. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), experience working with students in a school setting, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) for students with challenging behaviors in a school setting.
  • Design and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to address targeted behaviors and promote positive behavior change.
  • Provide direct behavioral support and therapy to students as needed, including individual and group interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, special education staff, and other school professionals to create a holistic approach to student success.
  • Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals, teacher aides, and other support staff in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Train and provide ongoing support to school staff on effective behavior management strategies, ABA techniques, and crisis intervention.
  • Collect and analyze data on student progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure success.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase social skills, communication, and academic engagement for students with behavioral needs.
  • Support the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans, ensuring that behavior-related goals and services are aligned with student needs.
  • Provide crisis management and de-escalation support as needed.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of student progress, behavior data, and treatment plans.
  • Participate in meetings with parents, staff, and other professionals to discuss student progress, behavior concerns, and ongoing support.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of ABA, special education, and behavior management.


Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) required.
  • Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a school-based setting with students who have behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of ABA principles, including functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plan (BIP) development.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, including IDEA, 504, and IEP development.
  • Experience providing training and supervision to staff and paraprofessionals.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including teachers, administrators, parents, and specialists.
  • Experience using data to inform decision-making and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.
  • Valid Illinois drivers license (if traveling between school sites).

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques (CPI, NCI, etc.).
  • Training or experience in other therapeutic approaches (e.g., social skills groups, speech therapy, occupational therapy) is a plus.
  • BCBA license
  • IL PEL is preferred
