Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Engineer to join our engineering team at Satellite Industries. The Design Engineer will play a key role in the development and improvement of our Vacuum Tank trucks. This role involves conceptualizing, designing, and optimizing vehicle components and systems to meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and product management to define project requirements and objectives.
Develop conceptual designs for Vacuum Tank truck components and systems, considering factors such as functionality, manufacturability, cost, and performance.
Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) to create detailed design drawings and specifications.
Prototype and test design concepts to evaluate feasibility and identify areas for improvement.
Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components for prototype and production builds.
Support manufacturing and assembly processes by providing detailed design documentation and resolving engineering issues as they arise.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in the automotive, heavy equipment, vacuum tank truck, or transportation industries.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools.
Experience with designing welded structures, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems is desirable.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., DOT regulations, ASME codes, OSHA regulations) is a plus.
