Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, validation, and compliance with local payroll tax regulations. This role involves managing high-volume, multi-state payroll and resolving state and local tax issues. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment, with a strong ability to adapt to process improvements and system changes.
Essential Functions:
Process payroll on a regular basis (biweekly, semimonthly, monthly, etc.), including adjustments provided by HR.
Handle multi-jurisdiction payroll and tax requirements, with a preference for Canadian payroll experience.
Accurately prepare payroll reports, remittance of payments, and statutory calculations to ensure compliance.
Manage garnishments for multi-state employees.
Reconcile payroll accounts and balance/post journal entries.
Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Accounts Payable to address payroll-related inquiries and issues.
Provide process improvements and assist with system troubleshooting, enhancements, and upgrades.
Deliver accurate year-end reconciliations and reporting.
Handle employee requests and inquiries related to payroll matters.
Secondary Functions:
Work closely with the Payroll Supervisor, Manager, Regional Controller, and internal stakeholders to prioritize business needs and support vendor communication.
Participate in process improvement projects and deliver actionable solutions.
Position Logistics:
Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, with some extended hours on payroll days.
Duration: 3 months, with potential for temporary-to-hire.
Location: Onsite initially, with hybrid flexibility after training.
Start Date: Immediate.
Dress Code: Business Casual.
